We source our chicken from one farm in Leicestershire. The farm is Pasture for Life certified and rears truly free range, outdoor birds.
The birds are reared to a minimum of 81 days, beyond the organic standard of 70 days, and spend a minimum of 70% of their life outdoors, earning themselves the title "Total Freedom" chickens.
The chickens are free from antibiotics and are grown slowly and traditionally, with an emphasis on pasture feeding and movement. The breed is a hubbard, considered to be the superior breed for free range birds, with longer legs allowing them to roam further, foraging on pasture rich with wildflowers, clover, grubs and worms making for a deeper, more succulent meat, with stronger more nutrient dense bones. They are fed a sustainably sourced supplemental feed of low protein, natural cereals to aid their development.
